Generative AI Usage Policy
In line with the principles of scientific integrity, editorial transparency, and best practices in scholarly publishing, the Revista de Inclusión Educativa y Diversidad (RIED) establishes this policy on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the preparation, review, and publication of manuscripts. This policy applies to authors, reviewers, editors, and collaborators.
General aspects
-
Human responsibility: All scientific contributions must be attributable to human authors. AI tools cannot appear as authors or co-authors under any circumstances.
-
Transparency: The use of AI must be explicitly declared by authors.
-
Ethical evaluation: Any use of AI must comply with ethical standards and confidentiality.
-
No replacement of academic judgment: AI tools may assist but never replace the critical, analytical, and ethical capacity of researchers.
For authors
Permitted uses of AI (must be disclosed in the manuscript):
-
Grammar and syntax checking
-
Drafting tentative abstracts or provisional titles
-
Preliminary bibliographic exploration
-
Translation of academic texts
In “Acknowledgments” or “Methods”, the following statement should be included (adaptable as needed):
“In preparing this manuscript, generative artificial intelligence tools were used for [specify: style correction, translation, preliminary drafting, etc.], including [tool name, e.g., ChatGPT by OpenAI]. Final decisions regarding content, analysis, and interpretation of data were made exclusively by the human authors.”
For reviewers and editors
Confidential content must not be entered into AI systems without explicit consent, including:
-
Manuscripts under review
-
Editorial or reviewer comments
-
Unpublished supplementary data
Detection and consequences
The journal may use AI-detection tools. If it is verified that a manuscript was generated partially or entirely by AI without proper disclosure:
-
A correction or retraction may be required
-
The manuscript will be rejected
-
Authors’ institutions may be notified
-
Sanctions will be applied in accordance with COPE
